Since it was created in 1977, the Department of French as a Foreign Language has been offering classes to international students studying at INSA to bring their French up to the required standard .

. during their first two years in the international sections Amerinsa, Asinsa, Eurinsa and Scan

. during the three years of specialisation

The Department also organises intensive sessions, upon request and for groups only, in general French or French for specific purposes.

The Department of French is an examination Centre for TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français).

The teaching staff consists of university-qualified teachers with specialist training in French as a foreign language and has a wide experience of the classroom both in France and abroad.

In answer to the increasing demand of the students, the teaching team is currently elaborating “Passeport pour les Sciences” a website for learning scientific French.
